PAVER CONTRACTOR IN NORTH IDAHO
Pavers That Connect Your Whole Backyard
Paver Patios & Hardscaping in Coeur d'Alene, Hayden & Rathdrum

Licensed Paver Contractor in North Idaho
Wood Outdoor Living is led by Braden Wood, a licensed Idaho general contractor (Lic. #1671056), and every project is covered by full liability insurance. We install only Belgard pavers, which carry a lifetime transferable limited product warranty, and we back every install with our own workmanship guarantee. We build to the codes adopted by your city or county and handle any permits and inspections your project requires.
Intentional Paver Design, Built by One Team
Every paver project starts with intentional design: borders, inlays, and defined zones for dining, lounging, and fire pit areas that give your backyard balance and flow instead of one flat surface. We design and install in-house, one job at a time, so the person who walks your yard with you is the one who builds your project. You'll see a 2D or 3D design before we start, so the finished work matches what you approved.

Strong Pavers That Hold Up
A paver surface is only as strong as what sits beneath it. We excavate, compact an open-graded stone base, and set Belgard pavers with edge restraints and polymeric sand, grading each project so water drains away from your home.
Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls both use a 24-inch design frost depth, so we build every base for ground that moves. Want ideas first? Explore Belgard's paver design guide.
Pavers for Hard Ground, Drainage & Slopes
In North Idaho, the ground decides how a paver project is built.
-
Hard native ground. It takes real excavation, so we dig out and rebuild the base instead of laying pavers over unprepared soil.
-
Drainage. We grade every project to move water away from your home and plan drainage before the first paver is set.
-
Freeze-thaw movement. An open-graded stone base drains water through instead of holding it under the surface, helping limit the heaving that shifts pavers.
-
Slopes. Pavers work best on level lots or level sections. On a sloped lot, we may add retaining walls and terracing, or recommend a multi-level deck instead.
Pair your pavers with a fire feature, outdoor lighting, or an outdoor kitchen.

What Does a Paver Patio Cost in North Idaho?
Paver pricing depends on square footage, paver selection, borders, inlays, and how many zones the design includes. As a guide, a 350 sq ft paver patio typically runs $15,000–$25,000, depending on the pavers, border details, and design complexity. Walkways, steps, and larger projects are quoted by size and scope.
Every estimate is custom, never a flat per-square-foot price, and includes design, materials, labor, and any permitting. Request a free quote for your project.

Frequently Asked Questions
Timeline depends on size, design, and site conditions. We build one job at a time, so once your design is approved and your deposit is paid, your project goes on our calendar and gets our full attention until it's finished. Most paver patios take 2 to 3 weeks once work begins.
Ground-level paver patios and walkways often don't need a building permit, but retaining walls over 4 feet, patio covers, and gas or electrical work do. Inside city limits, your city's building department sets the rules and setbacks still apply; outside them, Kootenai County does. We confirm what your project needs and handle any permits.
Pavers are interlocking units over an engineered base, so they flex with freeze-thaw movement instead of cracking as one slab, and a shifted section can be lifted and reset instead of replacing the whole surface. They also allow far more patterns, borders, and inlays, but a paver surface is only as good as its base, which is where we focus.
Pavers go in from spring thaw until the ground freezes again, because Belgard's installation guidelines call for an unfrozen subgrade and base material. Winter is for planning: design and selections now put you on our calendar for spring. Read why homeowners plan their deck or patio in winter.
Pavers are low maintenance: sweep, rinse, and top up the polymeric sand in the joints as needed. With an open-graded base, joint sand can settle over time, so an occasional refill is normal.
